‘We have faced new challenges in keeping up with the rising costs of holding a meeting to accommodate our size’
The Academy’s Board has issued the following statement:
We are busy planning for the Annual Meeting this year in Miami. As you know, the Academy Annual Meeting is our main event of the year, and we continue to develop a welcoming, educational, and fun event for all our members.
As our membership has grown, we have faced new challenges in keeping up with the rising costs of holding a meeting to accommodate our size. To this, several years ago, the Board has decided to consider options to help defray the costs.
One potential opportunity is to consider limited sponsorship to minimize the impact of escalating expenses. This decision was carefully considered by the Board and our Executive Director, and in the last year, the ACLP Board developed a set of guidelines to allow for sponsorship.
As a result, we hope to identify some external sponsors for select events at the 2024 meeting in Miami in November.
The Sponsorship Guidelines, developed by the ACLP’s Governance Committee and approved by the Bylaws and Standards and Ethics Subcommittees as well as the Board, provide a structured approach for the Academy to engage in these proposed partnerships. They underscore the organization’s steadfast commitment to ensure that the integrity of our professional, research, and education initiatives remain independent of any undue external influence by corporate partners or other supporters of the ACLP.
The Academy will offer sponsorship for specific activities in a transparent, open manner with our membership. We want to assure you that the ACLP will NOT accept funds from any pharmaceutical, therapeutic medical device, and/or biotechnology entity.
We hope these external partnerships will enable the ACLP to advance our organization’s mission and values further and improve on our already extraordinary Annual Meeting.
