ACLP Website: High-Yield Content for Advanced Practice Providers
Welcome to the advanced practice provider (APP) webpage! We created this webpage with APPs’ educational and professional development needs in mind. The educational resources include consultation-liaison (C-L) essentials for APPs transitioning to C-L practice, APPs in other psychiatric specialties aiming to improve their C-L knowledge, and experienced C-L APPs looking to refresh their knowledge. Professional development resources include networking, academic, and leadership opportunities. We recognize that C-L APPs are a heterogeneous population so we recruited a diverse group of APPs and physicians to review this webpage and are open to your feedback.

Educational Resources:
- C-L How-To Guides: The highest-yield clinical workflow resource. The Residency Education Subcommittee developed these guides for common consultation questions, organized into specific steps, authored by ACLP members recognized as experts.
- Clinical Pearl Video Vignettes: The Clinical Pearls page lists brief C-L video vignettes from ACLP Annual Meeting speakers on consultation mindset, collaboration, and other topics as below.
What the new APP should view first:
- ACLP Podcast: Episodes cover C-L psychiatry clinical updates, interviews with ACLP leaders, and topic-focused discussions such as decision-making capacity, emergency psychiatry, transplant psychiatry, HIV/PrEP, sexual dysfunction in psychiatric consultation, and SIG introductions.
- ACLP Quarterly Annotations: The best up-to-date tool. Since mid-2013, ACLP has posted quarterly commentary on journal articles relevant to important C-L psychiatry subspecialty areas. Current/recent tracks include areas such as addiction, aging, bioethics, catatonia, critical care, emergency psychiatry, generative AI in psychiatry, GI psychiatry, HIV psychiatry, neuromodulation, neuropsychiatry, pain, palliative Care, psychodermatology, psychonephrology, psycho-oncology, suicide, transplant psychiatry, and women’s mental health.
- ACLP Webinars and Journal Clubs: Live events are available to members only, though select recordings of journal clubs, topic updates, and case conferences are open access.
- Archived Presentations from Past Annual ACLP Meetings: Missed the annual meeting? Videos of past presentations are available under “Past Annual Meetings.”

Professional Development Resources
Open access (ACLP membership not required)
- Quarterly mentoring drop-in groups led by experienced nurse practitioners and physician assistants/associates in C-L psychiatry (hosted by the Interprofessional Education Subcommittee). Email Molly Howland, MD at mollyhowland49@gmail.com if interested in being added to the mentoring drop-in group distribution list.
- Annual meeting: In-person immersion. The ACLP Annual Meeting is the field’s main yearly gathering. Learn more about ACLP’s Annual Meeting at https://clpsychiatry.org/annual-meetings/
- APP Skills Course at the annual meeting: Since 2023, the ACLP has hosted an annual half-day course on C-L essentials, process-oriented skills such as liaison work across professions, and APP-specific content such as scope-related considerations and addressing microaggressions. Thev 2026 skills course will be focused on navigating transitions of care across professions.

APPs are eligible for the associate membership pathway ($250/year, discounted membership), defined as an individual with an advanced degree in a related field and actively engaged in C-L psychiatry. ACLP’s membership year follows the calendar year.
