Volunteer to Serve

Thank you for considering volunteering for an Academy committee or subcommittee; it is thanks to the talent and dedication of over 200 Academy committee volunteers that ACLP is enjoying its current success.

Committee and subcommittee members must be members of the Academy in good standing. Academy Fellows, Full Members, Life Members, Life Fellows, and C-L Fellows are eligible to serve on committees and subcommittees. Associate members may be appointed as one-year consultants to any committee or subcommittee.

The Executive Office verifies membership status annually in April and lapsed members are automatically removed from committee appointments; please remember to renew your membership on time.

You may view the list of current committee appointments here.

You are welcome to volunteer for any committee or subcommittee you wish. So that you do not overextend yourself and there are opportunities for all who apply, you will be limited to no more than three selections. For each selection, you are asked to describe your interest in serving on the selected committee (i.e., why are you applying?), and comment on any experience and/or skills you possess relevant to service (including prior history with the committee).

If you have any questions about the work of a committee/subcommittee, please contact the respective chair(s) prior to applying to serve.

We regret that, due to the high number of volunteers who apply, it is possible you may not be selected for your preferred committee/subcommittee choices.

Committee applications for the November 2026 – November 2029 period will open in mid-June 2026. The deadline for receiving your indication of interest is 11:59 PM EDT on July 31, 2026 and will not be extended.

To help keep this complex process manageable, applications for Academy service are no longer accepted outside of the online application process; if you are unable to apply by the deadline this year, please try again next year.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for an Academy committee/subcommittee.
