Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Special Interest Group Mission Statement
The Neuropsychiatry Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry seeks to promote clinical expertise, research, and medical education in psychiatric disorders associated with neurologic disease among consultation psychiatrists and specialists. These diseases typically include, but are not limited to: acquired brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases, movement disorders, cerebral autoimmune disorders, epilepsy, toxic-metabolic encephalopathies, and congenital, inherited, or developmental disorders. Other topic areas encompassed by the SIG may include functional neurological symptom disorders and psychological/existential reactions to neurological diseases. Through collaborative efforts amongst its members, the SIG aims to advance clinical excellence, scholarship, educational resources, and dissemination of cutting-edge research related to these neuropsychiatric conditions.
