CARDIOVASCULAR PSYCHIATRY SIG

Minutes from SIG meeting: November 17, 2012, Atlanta GA

Attendees:   Hochang Benjamin Lee (Chair), Caroline  Saulino, Jeff Huffman, Devinalini Kamaraj, Christopher Celano, Gulam Nurami

Minutes:

  1. Description, purpose and benefits of the Cardiovascular Psychiatry SIG were discussed.
  2. Chair of the SIG would be Hochang Benjamin Lee for the next two years and will transition to another member.   Meanwhile, the SIG will establish the administrative bylaws.
  3. Chair will submit annual reports and meet with the APM Secretary (or his/her designee)
    1. Names of members in attendance at the annual meeting
    2. A synopsis of the groups’ activities for the year
    3. An update of the SIG contact information to be posted on the Web
    4. Any special requests for the upcoming year need to be submitted to the Governance Committee two months prior to the annual meeting
  4. Operation
    1. Activities throughout the year
      1. The primary mode of communication among the SIG members would be through Listserv.
        1. Dr. Kamaraj will take the lead on creating a listserv and maintaining it.
        2. Dr. Lee will send the list of the current members to Dr. Kamaraj to create an access list.
      2. Dr. Celano and Dr. Huffman will lead the website.
        1. Content of the website will be:
          •      Purpose, description, benefits of the SIG
          •      Annual SIG meeting minutes (this sheet)
          •      Upcoming events
          •      Other announcement
      3. We will consider having one mid-year web-based meeting to update the progress of various SIG activities.
    2. Activities for the next year’s annual meeting: Tucson, Arizona, 2013 Nov 13-16
      1. Theme from SIG next year will be:  heart failure
      2. Preferred format would be:  symposium
      3. However, pre-conference course will be looked into.
      4. Once the next year’s theme is decided, we will put together a proposal.  Dr. Lee will lead this effort with Dr. Nurami and Dr. Saulino.   We will involve as many SIG members as possible.
