CLP 2021 produced several outstanding workshops that could be a valuable supplement to C-L education at academic institutions. ACLP’s Online Education Subcommittee, Residency Education Subcommittee, and Medical Student Education Subcommittee completed an initial review of the education content from the conference and identified ones that were relevant and useful for medical students and residents. Fundamentals of C-L Psychiatry is a great resource for residents who are being introduced to C-L psychiatry. This course covers the basics of how to complete a psychiatric consultation, psychopharmacology in the medically ill, transplant psychiatry, essentials of pediatric C-L psychiatry, and suicide risk assessment in medical populations and settings.

“Diagnostic C-L Psychiatry” for Treatment-resistant Depression TRD’s Subsets: A Novel Approach to Manage TRD in Patients with Contributing Comorbid Medical Disorders
This workshop discusses the concept of diagnostic C-L psychiatry, a process to understand treatment resistant depression (TRD) in various medical illnesses such as cancer, autoimmune diseases, and transplantation. They also discuss an approach to management of TRD in medical subpopulations and include neuromodulation approaches such as ECT, TMS, and magnetic seizure therapy.
Acute and Chronic Neuropsychiatric Sequelae of COVID-19
This group of talks described the gamut of neuropsychiatric symptoms that can be seen in the acute setting of COVID-19 and long-term recovery issues including post-acute sequelae of COVID or long COVID. Practical tips on managing delirium in COVID patients were discussed, as was the approach to long COVID workup and treatment.

Agitation is a frequent reason for psychiatric consultation, and this group of talks discuss cutting edge issues that arise in the management of agitation, especially in the emergency department.

Getting Real About C-L Psychiatrists Treating Addiction
This presentation focuses on cannabis use given the increased use of marijuana in states with legalized marijuana across all age groups. The presenters also review substance use in pregnancy, including the effect of substance use, withdrawal syndromes, and the use of opioid replacement therapies.
