Description of Program

The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship Program at USC/LA General Medial Center (formally named LAC+USC) is a one-year program training CL Psychiatrists to to become highly adept at treating medical, surgical, obstetric, and oncologic patients suffering from co-morbid psychiatric disorders. Trainees benefit from a breadth of clinical experiences, including integrated clinics within primary care, obstetrics, HIV, transplant, and neurobehavior, as well as a sub-specialized medically complex psychiatry clinic. Inpatient consult experiences include LA General Medical Center (600-bed safety net public hospital), Keck Hospital (private hospital), and Norris Hospital (comprehensive cancer center). In addition, fellows rotate for one month on a palliative care service. Dedicated didactics are provided weekly. The fellows are additionally trained to be educators, providing psychiatric interdisciplinary teaching/didactics to trainees on their services, including psychiatry, family medicine, internal medicine, ob/gyn, and neurology residents.
