Description of Program

This is a one-year program that trains fellows to act as expert psychiatric consultants in medical, surgical, and primary care settings. The UNM Health Sciences Center and Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center serve as the level 1 trauma center and tertiary referral centers for the greater Southwest region. Our core faculty are involved in teaching and research at the regional and national level, particularly in bioethics, neuropsychiatry, neuromodulation, addiction/pain, HIV, transgender care, and telemedicine. For these reasons, as well as the rich cultural diversity of the Albuquerque metropolitan area, fellows can expect to receive excellent preparation in treating highly complex patients.
